Weather Unit -- More Sunny Day Stories

 Our writing prompt for the weather unit was:  Write about something you do on a sunny day.  These are more of the stories we wrote and illustrated. 
Sunny story 6:  A sunny day has white fluffy clouds and a yellow sun.  I use a dress and sunglasses.  I can play at the park.
Sunny story 7:  A sunny day has a yellow sun and cloudy fluffs.  I use a dress.  A sunny day , I go to the beach.
We hope you enjoy them!  And yes... she really did say "cloudy fluffs" in her story.
Sunny story 8:  A sunny day has a yellow sun and blue skies.  I use my airplane to fly to LasVegas!
He obviously loved visiting Vegas!
Sunny story 9: A sunny day has white clouds and a yellow sun.  I use sandals and my umbrella.  I go to the park.
Sunny story 10:  A sunny day has "a" yellow sun and blue sky.  A sunny day, I use umbrella and my cap.  A sunny day, "I" go to the swimming pool.

Weather Unit -- Sunny Day Stories

Our writing prompt for the weather unit was:  Write about something you do on a sunny day.  These stories were written and illustrated in a 20 minute writing block.
Sunny story 1:  A sunny day has blue skies and a yellow sun. I uses a dress and hat.  I use my hat.  I go to the store.
Sunny story 2:  A sunny day has a yellow sun.  I go to the beach.  I use my sunglasses.
Love, love, love their uniquely written stories.
Sunny story 3:  A sunny day has white clouds and a yellow sun.  I use a dress and shoes.  I go to the beach.
Sunny story 4:  A sunny day has a yellow sun and a blue sky.  I use my dress and my hat.  I go to pick cherries.
 I just love her original idea of picking cherries, as well as her cute illustration.
Sunny story 5:  A sunny day has a yellow sun and blue sky.  I use my hat.  I go to the beach.
Students independently prepared their own stories and then dictated/tracked the words for the teacher.  Tomorrow will feature more Sunny day stories, so be sure to come back and visit. :)

Weather Unit -- Sunny: Tree Maps + More Stories

My kiddos constructed their own tree maps for their sunny weather stories. Here are a few more of their finished tree maps & stories...
Student 4:  A sunny day has sun and clouds. I use my bathing suit and 
Student 4+:  sunglasses.  I can go to the swimming pool and dive.
Great details, details, details! :)
Student 5: A sunny day has "a" yellow sun and has blue skies.  I use sunglasses and  umbrella.  I use 
Student 5+:  slippers.  I can go to the swimming pool.  I can splash in the water. 
My kids love to use adjectives and verbs in their stories! 
Student 6:  A sunny day has a sun and blue skies.  I use my sunglasses and 
Student 6+: my hat. I can go to the park and play at the slide.
Today was a great day, so much learning (and fun) going on in K1!

Weather Unit -- Sunny: Tree Maps + Stories

Weather Unit -- Sunny: Student Constructed Tree Maps & Even More Stories


One of the kids actually asked me "Why is writing time so short?"  I innocently responded "Do you think we could use more time?" She nods yes and says "I love writing...let's write all day!" 
My students are hard at work constructing their own tree maps for their sunny weather stories. Here are even more of their 2/3 tree map samples...
Student F:  A sunny day has blue skies and a yellow sun.  I use my sunglasses.
Student G: A sunny day has "a" yellow sun and has blue skies.  I use sunglasses and a umbrella. I use slippers.
It's fun to see the kids enjoy verbally crafting their stories, then writing their ideas down so confidently.
Student H:  A sunny day has blue skies and a sun.  I use my hat and my drink.
Student I:  A sunny day has a sun and blue skies.  I use my sunglasses and hat.
 Love all the details and hats, hats, hats.
Student J:  A sunny day day has a yellow sun and blue skies.  I use my hat and my sunglasses.
Student K:  A sunny day has fluffy clouds and blue skies.  I use sunglasses and shorts.

Weather Unit -- Sunny: Student Constructed Tree Maps & More Stories

My students are hard at work constructing their own tree maps for their sunny weather stories. Here are some of their 2/3 tree map samples...
Student A: A sunny day has white clouds and blue skies.  I use my pink hat and sunglasses.
Student B:  A sunny day has clouds and blue skies.  I use my umbrella and sunglasses.
There's something so inviting about student C's illustration.
Student C: A sunny day has sun and clouds.  I use my bathing suit and 
Student C+: sunglasses.
Student D: A sunny day has white clouds and a yellow sun. I
Student D+:  use my hat and umbrella.
I just love to see the twinkle in my student's eyes as they think excitedly of their writing ideas and put them on paper.
Student E:  A sunny day has "a" yellow sun and white fluffy clouds.  I use
Student E+: my fan and water.
